I use the WMP 9 or the Real One players to record CD tracks to the HD. If you are going to put it on the web for dial up connection, you will have to go into the menus for these players and select a very low sampling rate. Then you go to your Zone file manager and upload the file. The WMP9 usually adds an extension of wma. The Real One usually adds an extension of rmj. Then you have to make short "switch" files that you call to start the sound. They link to the actual sound files. For RA the switch file has an extension of ram. For WMA the switch file can have an extension of asf. Be aware that these sound files will work only for computers and not the MSNTV box which is much too slow and out of date. For example for RA to work on the box, you must put the sound file on a special streaming server. Also it is not a good idea to put such files on your html server, such as at the Zone, for the general public. You get into problems if too many try to play the sound at the same time. Keep these types of sound files for only yourself and a friend or two, and change the URLs from time to time to prevent linking. Such sound files can use 1 or 2 MB per not too long song. If you do decide you want to put sound on a streaming server for general use, there are others that use the Zone that do this and probably can give you some tips.
