 Well I finally made it back in here. I was Trying a couple of week ago because I needed some help. I got an e-mail with a "doc" attachment and didn't know how to open it. I think I finally deleted it but gonna check the trash....LOL

Thanks Kari for getting me back in, I'm glad I inquired about my renewal!!

No problem on getting your renewal squared away .. I'm glad you wrote, too!

As for that .doc file .. you need to be careful. If you know the person who is sending it, and know what it is, you can open it. BUT, if you don't know what the file is, even if you know who sent it, you need to be careful. Computer viruses send themselves under the guise of various file types, and even if it comes from someone you know, they may not have sent it knowingly.

Always be careful when opening attachments with a PC... and make sure your anti-virus software is up to date.

Your computer is probably set up with Wordpad as the default for opening that type of document. I seldom use Wordpad myself, I have a free version of EditPad that I use for text documents, but for .doc files I usually use Microsoft Word.

You can go into your computer settings and tell it what programs to use for opening what files. I use Irfanview (another free program) for opening images, Winamp for audio files .. and so on.

This conversation is becoming a good topic for the Puteron Zone here at the forum! LOL

You need to be very careful anyway. You also need virus scan protection for your e-mail. I have McAfee!! I know what I'm talking about here. I had 3 viruses in my e-mail from people that I knew. My virus scan had ran out of it's subscription.
